Halal Awareness Programme

 

It has been the aspiration of the Malaysian Government to pride itself as a Regional, if not The Global Halal Hub with a mission to create value for businesses participating in the Global Halal Industry and to benefit Malaysia’s economy.

In the 11th Malaysian Plan 2016-2020, the Sixth Strategic Trust; reengineering economic growth for greater prosperity, the halal industry will adopt strategic approaches to further develop the industry as a source of competitive advantage and catalyst of growth.

This is an extension of the Halal Industry Master Plan, a comprehensive blueprint launched in 2008 to drive halal as a new source of economic growth. Such move made by the Malaysian Government has resulted in the growth of Malaysia’s total halal export value exceeding RM 37.6 billion, registering an annual growth of 18% in 2015.

Halal Industry players in Malaysia has to strive in order to capture a sizeable market share of the global halal industry estimated at USD2.1 trillion of which, nearly USD667 billion is from halal food consumption, catering to the needs of nearly 2 billion Muslims around the world. It is an industry that is growing year on year, with the ever increasing affluence of the Muslim population.

The objectives of this programme is to equip participants with knowledge and skills on:

  1. The concept of Halalan Toyyiban
  2. Malaysian Halal Certification System and its Legal Framework

Upon completion of this programme, participants should be able to:

  1. Understand and apply halalan toyyiban practices in their workplace
  2. Become Internal Halal Committee member in implementing Halal Assurance Management system

Hj. Zulkifli bin Hj. Ab. Latif, a MBA graduate, has been involved in training, coaching and consulting for more than 20 years. His working exposure covers several different areas of services from Islamic Banking and Finance, ICT, E-Commerce Trade Facilitation, Green Technology to  Halal Industry training and consultancy.

In the Halal Training arena, he serves as Training Provider for Halal Products Executive Program for Melaka Industrial Skills Development Centre (MISDEC) since 2004 until to-date. This program was financed by the Ministry of Human Resources and sanctioned by JAKIM.

He was appointed as Principal, Halal Management and Research Academy, Melaka Industrial Skills Development Centre, from July 2011 to December 2015.

Hj. Zulkifli sits as panel of experts for the development of:

  • National Occupational Skills Standard (NOSS) and curriculum development for Halal Industry Management by Department of Skills Development (JPK) and,
  • Written Instructional Material (WIM) for Halal Professional Training for JAKIM under the supervision of the National Halal Professional Board.
