MEDIU participated in 2nd Kuala Lumpur International Islamic Studies and Civilizations Conference (KLiISC) with the theme “Islam The Driving Force For Humanity & World Peace” held on 8-9 October 2016 at Hotel Putra, Kuala Lumpur.
MEDIU was represented by Deputy Dean Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Asst. Prof.Dr. Yasser Mohamed Tarshany, where he delivered a research paper entitled “Innovation in Islamic Studies”, wherein focuses on the definition in the sense of renewal and the legitimacy of renewal in the Holy Quran and the Sunnah; the obstacles and efforts on collective innovation that brings to the understanding of the context and the jurisprudence of reality. He suggested on the the renewal of curricula and teaching methods in schools and universities to educate students and to facilitate the curriculum in a modern way.
The conference provides a good forum for academic exchange in cross- cultural approach and beyond pertaining to Islamic Studies, Islamic Civilisation and other related fields with the aim stimulate discussion, debate, informed dialogue and research on Islam, knowledge and civilisation relating to it.
