Application Procedures

The applicant is required to submit the following documents together with the signed application form:

  1. The receipt of application Fee to be refered to in the university website: www.mediu.edu.my.
  2. Two copies of Certified True Copy of Transcripts of relevant academic qualifications.
  3. Two copies of Certified True Copy of Certificate of relevant academic qualifications.
  4. Two Reference Forms
  5. Certified True copy of English or Arabic result (if any)
  6. Four recent passport-sized photographs enclosed (3cm x 3.5cm)
  1. The receipt of application Fee to be refered to in the university website: www.mediu.edu.my.
  2. Four copies each of Certified True Copy of Transcripts and translation of Transcripts.
  3. Four copies each of Certified True Copy of Certificate and translation of Certificate of relevant academic qualifications.
  4. Certified True copy of English or Arabic result (if any).
  5. Recent passport-sized photographs enclosed (3cm x 3.5cm)
  6. Three certified copies of ALL pages of passport (including blank pages) enclosed. Validity of passport shall be at least 12 months.
  • Once the application is received, IPS will check if the application is complete. A maximum of 3 reminders will be sent to applicants to submit any pending documents at an interval of two weeks between each reminder. Failure to respond to the 3rd reminder will result in an unsuccessful application and the applicant’s file will thus be closed.
  • Only complete applications will be processed by IPS.
  • In general, it would take 5 working days for all applications to be approved. IPS will issue the offer letters to all successful candidates. Details of the programmes would be outlined in the offer letters.

A candidate admitted into a Master’s Programme shall posses the following minimum qualification:

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree with Honours or CGPA of 2.00 and above, in a related field from MEDIU or equivalent from another recognized University; or
  2. Any other academic qualifications equivalent to (1), as approved by the Senate.Note:
    • Specific requirements are defined by the Faculty where the Master’s programme is being offered.
    • For conversion programmes, a candidate is required to have a degree in a non-related field.

In addition to the academic requirements, an applicant is also required to possess a sufficient level of English language proficiency by obtaining one of the following:

i. A minimum overall TOEFL score of 580 (paper based) or 237 (computer based) or 92 (internet based) ; or

ii. A minimum IELTS overall band score of 6.5; or
iii. A minimum score of 70% in Mediu ‘s English Language Proficiency Test; or

iv. Any other qualification which is of equivalent level as determined by the Senate of the University.

In addition to the academic requirements, an applicant is also required to possess a sufficient level of Arabic language proficiency by obtaining one of the following:

i. Mediu ‘s Arabic Language Certificate; or

ii. Any other qualification which is of equivalent level as determined by the Senate of the University.

All applicants must fulfill the English or Arabic Language requirement in order to be admitted to the approved programme.

  • Upon the recommendation of the Faculty, the Senate may waive the English requirement for candidates who have obtained their Bachelor or Master’s degrees, where English has been used as the sole medium of instruction or as one of the media of instruction. The Faculty may interview the candidates and recommend to the Senate for waiver, where appropriate. Candidate must show evidence that he meets the criteria for an interview.
  • The acceptance of a candidate shall be solely at the discretion of the Senate, whose decision shall be final.
  • A candidate whose application has been rejected may submit an appeal letter to the Board of Postgraduate Studies through the Dean of IPS.

A candidate admitted into a PhD Programme shall posses the following minimum qualification:

  1. A master’s Degree in a related field or equivalent from another recognized University.
  2. A master’s Degree in non-related field from MEDIU or another institution with research or employment experience not less than two years.
  3. Any other academic qualifications equivalent to (1) or (2), as approved by the Senate.
