Objective
Diploma in civil engineering program has been designed in such a way as to provide the graduates with:
(PO1) Knowledge of mathematics, science and civil engineering at sub professional level.
(PO2) The ability to work in teams and analyze civil engineering design.
(PO3) Proficiency in communication, understanding of professional ethics, and the ability to demonstrate success and leadership, as well as the ability to engage in continuing professional development.
Learning Outcomes
The programme is designed to meet the following learning Outcomes, and to ensure that its graduates have:
(LO1) An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and Civil Engineering.
(LO2) An ability to design basic civil engineering projects and to appreciate the various skills required.
(LO3) Knowledge of the computer and software and multimedia technologies typical for designing and drafting.
(LO4) An ability to function on multidisciplinary teams, and civil engineering teams.
(LO5) An ability to identify, formulate, and solve civil engineering problems in view of the modern ICT opportunities and constraints.
(LO6) An ability to communicate effectively to successfully manage civil engineering development projects.
(LO7) An ability to use the skills, techniques, and contemporary tools necessary for civil engineering application development and project design.
(LO8) A clear understanding of ethical and professional responsibility.
(LO9) An understanding of the rapid development of civil engineering industry and the extensive use of ICT and multimedia, and its global and social impact.
(LO10) An understanding of the need to undertake life-long learning, and an ability to do so by taking up the opportunities available in the different fields.
Entry Require-ments
- A pass in Shahadah Thanawiyyah Ammah examination (compulsory: taken upon the completion of 12 years primary and secondary schools education) with 3 Credits, inclusive of Mathematics and sciences; OR
- Three (3) Credits including Mathematics and sciences in SPM/SPMV or in the General Certificate of Education ‘Ordinary Level’ (GCE) ‘O’ Level Examination (UK Education System) or their equivalent; OR
- Any other certificate or qualification that is recognized by the University’s Academic Board as equivalent to one of the above.
Language
English Language
Where the medium of instruction of a course is English and if applicant’s first language is other than English, applicants are required to obtain a score of either:
550 TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or
6.0 band IELTS (International English Language Testing Service)
Applicants, who do not have either of the above qualifications, are required to pass MEDIU’s English Placement Test (MEPT) with a minimum 6.0 points.
