International Conference on Islamic Applications in Computer Science and Technologies (IMAN 2013)

Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) with the cooperation with Nahda Institution recently held an international conference on “Islamic Applications in Computer Science and Technologies (IMAN 2013)”, which was held in The Palace of Golden Horses, Kuala Lumpur on 1-2 July 2013.  .

Keynote speakers of the conference were Prof. Dr. Mohammed Zeki Khedherl, Jordan University, Jordan as the Conference Chairman; Dr. Refaat H. M. Al-Zanfally, Associate Professor, Faculty of Science and Computer Engineering at Taibah University, Madinah; Dr. Saeed N. Al-Hazmi, Managing Director of the Muslim World League Office in Kuala Lumpur and Dr. Omar Tayan, Head of Unit of Information Security for the Holy Quran and its Sciences, Madinah.

The opening speech was delivered Associate Professor Dr Hj. Wan Mat Hj Sulaiman; MEDIU’s Deputy CEO of Academic Affairs on behalf of MEDIU’s CEO; Prof. Dr. Mohammad Khalifa Al-Tamimi. MEDIU’s academician, researcher and students were presented as well during the opening session of IMAN 2013 Conference.

The International Conference on “Islamic Applications in Computer Science and Technologies” is the first international conference that aims in providing the most important applications and software that could contribute to Muslims and their religion as well as the community. The aims are to encourage scientific research by using information technology tools in Sharia sciences as well as presenting and evaluating Muslims contributions in Computer Science Applications and Technology.  The conference will be a platform to serve Arabic language, Machine Translation to and from Arabic, Natural Language Processing of Arabic Language and Voice & Character Recognition of Arabic language.

Among the topics that were presented in the Conference are:

IMAN 2013 witnessed attendance from scholars, academician and IT specialist organizations owners. The 37 submitted papers presented during the Conference will be considered to be published in the International Journal on Islamic Applications in Computer Science and Technologies – IJASAT: ISSN 2289-4012.
