Vision
Towards a high level Islamic academia that results in a comprehensive knowledge of the sciences of al-Hadith which guides students to strive towards adorning the noble character of the Prophet (PBUH).
Mission
- To prepare students for research in the sciences of al-Hadith, its sources and methods, from the perspective of its transmittal and textual understanding.
- To develop the faculties of conscience and commitment of students through knowledge of the science of prophethood along with its values and etiquettes. This assists in the emulation of the example of the Prophet (PBUH).
- To endow students with practical and behavioral skills in communicating with society in order to propagate Islamic ethical values and its manifestation in society.
Objective
This programmes aims to provide learners with:
- In-depth mastery of knowledge in al-Hadith and its sciences, both Science of Hadith Riwayah and Dirayah.
- Competence in analyzing and synthesizing principles, thoughts, ideas and different opinions, from classical (turāth) as well as modern sources.
- The ability to apply principles, theories and methods of the al-Hadith and its sciences to relevant contemporary issues
- The ability to offer fresh ideas for meeting current needs and providing alternative solutions, based on appropriate and responsible research.
- Critical, analytical and problem-solving skills in order to deal with issues at hand.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills; to carry out supervisory role in teamwork with awareness of their social and ethical responsibilities
- high competence in finding materials and information for research, career development and lifelong learning
Learning Outcomes
At the end of programme, students should be able to:
- Demonstrate in-depth mastery of knowledge in al-Hadith and its sciences, including competence to analyse thoughts and ideas from classical as well as modern sources;
- Critically analyze differences of opinions among the scholars and synthesize ideas from various sources;
- Apply principles, theories and methods of al-Hadith and its sciences to relevant contemporary settings for meeting current needs;
- Offer fresh ideas based on appropriate and responsible research, and make use of relevant ideas in modern disciplines for providing alternative solutions.
- Execute and take responsibility for managerial tasks; and put into practice effective interpersonal and communication skills;
- Apply critical, analytical and problem-solving skills in dealing with issues at hand;
- Carry out supervisory role in teamwork and show awareness of social and ethical responsibilities;
- Demonstrate skillfulness in obtaining materials and information for research, career development and lifelong learning
Entry Requirements
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree (Honours) with good grades from MEDIU, or any other institutions of higher learning recognized by the university OR any other certificate that is recognized as equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree (Honours) or other relevant professional qualification and experience that are recognized by the University.
- A relevant General Bachelor’s degree (without Honours) with at least one year working experience, and, if deemed necessary, an applicant may be interviewed and/or required to sit for an entrance test in order to determine determine the applicants eligibility for admission to a specific programme.
- The department of faculty may, with the approval of the University Academic Council (UAC), require the applicant to satisfy additional conditions for admission to a specific programme.

Applicants interested to enroll in programmes where the medium of instruction is in Arabic must pass the MEDIU’s Arabic Placement Test (MAPT) before being admitted to the program.

STRUCTURE A: RESEARCH
The applicant is required to study a subject named Research Methodology, then the applicant can start the research under the supervision of an academic member of the Postgraduate Studies Department.
