MEDIU Executive Management Committee (EMC) Meeting

MEDIU’s CEO; Prof. Dr. Mohammad Khalifa Al-Tamimi chaired an EMC meeting on Thursday, 14 February 2013. The meeting was attended by Deputy CEO from all departments as well as respective head of departments. The main agenda of the meeting is on the coordination by the Deanship of Scientific Research and Technology Management on the matters regarding achieving the University’s target in the WIPO Matrix classification.

Among the goals targeted in the WIPO Matrix for the first half of the year 2013 are as follows:

  • To be in the top ten ranking overall in the category of Malaysian universities.
  • To be in first place ranking in the category of private universities in Malaysia.
  • To be in top 1,500 ranking for worldwide universities.

The EMC has decided and agreed on the matters as follows:

First: To rely on measuring the level of progress in the axis of Presence (Size 17%) on a measuring instrument (MAVIR) and search engine (Google).

Second: To rely on measuring the level of progress in the axis of influence (clarity 50%) on a measuring instrument (AHREFS) and search engine (MAJESTIC).

Third: To rely on measuring the level of progress in the axis of openness (17% rich files) on the measuring tool (Google Scholar) and file formats with extensions approved.

Fourth: To rely  on measuring the level of progress at the center of excellence (scientific publishing 17%) on a measuring instrument (SIR) and dissemination of research in the top 10% of scientific journals.

The EMC has decided to approve in the adoption of measuring the level of progress in the center of excellence (scientific publishing 17%) on the following criteria:

  1. A workshop with all the faculties; to discuss on the measurement progress of the university at the center of excellence (scientific publishing 17%) and the adoption of its mechanisms for the implementation.
  1. To produce 2 sets of research papers form the following faculties; Faculty of Finance and Administrative Sciences and the Faculty of Computer and Information Technology; whereas 1 set of research paper from the other faculties.
  1. To give to the researcher a remuneration based on their research paper(T&C)  Q1-$10,000; Q2-$5,000 and Q3- $3,000

The EMC also decided to upgrade the post of Mr. Ssuna Salim (Faculty of Education) to a new position titled Asst.Prof.Dr.
