Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) witnessed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) ceremony between the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE) and Financial Sector Talent Enrichment Program (FSTEP) on Thursday, 2 December 2010. The signing ceremony was held in Bank Negara Kuala Lumpur and was organized by the Institute of Malaysian Banks in collaboration with the Bank Negara of Malaysia.
The event was attended by the Minister of Higher Education; Y.B Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia; Tan Sri Dr Zeti Actor Aziz, Chairman of the Institute of Bankers Malaysia (IBBM); Tan Sri Azman Hashim. The event was attended by MEDIU’s Deputy Rector for Academic Affairs; Prof Dr. Kamal Hattab along with MEDIU’s PR officers.
FSTEP is managed by Institute of Bankers Malaysia (IBBM) and driven by the financial services industry with the objective to train and prepare highly quality graduates for employment in the financial services institutions. Y.B Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin signed the MoU on behalf of the public universities and 12 private universities and through the memorandum, the selected universities can play a major role in supplying quality graduates to FSTEP for its one year fast track technical training programme which provides exposures on conventional, Islamic and investment banking as well as insurance and takaful.
Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the MoU would unlock the potential of exchanging and developing mutually beneficial knowledge and skills that resides within the universities and the financial services industry. And he hoped that the financial services industry would also seize the opportunity to seek for more academicians to participate in providing their expertise to the industry and vice versa.
