Pre-Engineering Programme

Objective

Foundation program has been designed in such a way as to provide the students with:
(PO1) Fundamental knowledge of mathematics and basic science to enable them to gain entry into the bachelor of engineering degree course.
(PO2) Proficiency in communication, understanding of professional ethics, and the ability to demonstrate success and leadership, as well as the ability to engage in continuing professional development.

Learning Outcomes

The programme is designed to meet the following learning Outcomes, and to ensure that its students have:
(LO1) An ability to enhance knowledge of mathematics and physical sciences.
(LO2) An understanding of the need to undertake life-long learning, and an ability to do so by taking up the opportunities available in the different fields.
(LO3) Ability to communicate effectively, not only with engineers but also with community at large.
(LO4) Ability to function effectively as an individual and in group with the capacity to be a leader or manger.

Entry Require-ments

(a) A pass in Shahadah Thanawiyyah Ammah examination (compulsory: taken upon the completion of 12 years primary and secondary schools education) with 3 Credits, inclusive of Mathematics; OR
(b) Five credit inclusive of Mathematics and Physics in the SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia); OR
(c) Five credit inclusive of Mathematics and Physics in the General Certificate of Education ordinary Level (GCE) ‘O’ Level Examination (UK Education System); OR
(d) Five credit in SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) with credit in mathematics, additional mathematics, science, English, Bahasa Malayu or Arabic Language or Equivalent qualifications
(e) Any other certificate or qualification that is recognized by the University’s Academic Board as equivalent to one of the above.

Language

English Language
Where the medium of instruction of a course is English and if applicant’s first language is other than English, applicants are required to obtain a score of either:
 550 TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or
 6.0 band IELTS (International English Language Testing Service)
Applicants, who do not have either of the above qualifications, are required to pass MEDIU’s English Placement Test (MEPT) with a minimum 6.0 points.
