Students’ Debate Competition

The Deanship of Student Affairs and Counseling and Student Activities Department recently organized students’ debate competition in collaboration with Students Representative Council (SRC) on Thursday, 16 May 2013. The theme of the debate is “Ladies’ Extended Their Education (Postgraduate) before Marriage; Its Advantages and Disadvantages”. The students’ debate competition was done aiming to clarify the vogues of some important and critical issues. Thus, such activities indeed will improve and develops the student’s skills on to understand and overcome such situations and to make decision wisely.

The competition begin with a speech by the Head of Counseling and Student Activities Department acknowledging MEDIU’s Honorable CEO; Prof. Dr. Mohammad Khalifa Al-Tamimi and the Dean of Student Affairs; Assoc. Prof Dr. Moussa Oumar Keita on the support and encouragement of the competition. Furthermore, he expresses his gratitude on the vital role of the judgers and their contribution to enrich the knowledge of the students. The panel judges on the competition are Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmad H. Mzeil Al-Obaidy from the Department of English Languages, Mr. Abdulkadir Mohamed Osman; Lecturer from Faculty of Finance and Administrative Sciences and Senior Registrar; Mrs. Nurul Ashikin Abdul Latiff as the guest judge of the competition.

The competition was held in a good effort by the organizers, participants, and he also thanked everyone in managing the competition as an important part in their learning process. The competition was administered by Mr. Mohammad Fahim as the President of SRC and Mr. Yusof Salisu as the Chairperson. The affirmative team ‘who believes in the advantages of ladies’ extended (Postgraduate) education after marriage’ is the winning team of the competition.

At the end of session, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmad H. Mzeil Al-Obaidy expressed his pleasure on the effort by the Dean of Student Affairs and Counseling as well as the Student Activities Department in providing such valuable activities for the students and thanked SRC for their great management of the event.
