Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) hosted an honored guest, The Honorable Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi; the former Prime Minister of Malaysia on Wednesday, 16 February 2011. The honored guest was welcomed by MEDIU’s Honorable Rector; Prof. Dr. Mohammad Khalifa Al-Tamimi, Manager of Administrative Affairs Division; Mr. Khalid Mahamat Idriss Ahamat along with University’s council members Dr. Ashraf bin Md. Hashim and Tan Sri Dr. Zulkifli Bin Hassan.
During the visit to MEDIU Headquarters, Tun Abdullah visit the major department in the University’s namely the academic administrative department, admission and registration, technology department as well as the library and students learning centres. Tun Abdullah have the opportunities to meet up with the staffs and students of MEDIU’s from various background and culture differences during the office tour.
Prof. Dr. Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al-Tamimi expressed his deep gratitude to Tun Abdullah for the support that MEDIU had received from the former prime minister as well as the Malaysian government in general since the beginning of MEDIU’s foundation in all aspects until the University’s became a reality today.
Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi thanked MEDIU’s Rector for the invitation to MEDIU and expressed his view that MEDIU is distinguishable from other universities as is its focusing on distance education (e-learning) that is taken from the modern technology and it is a pioneer in the delivery of science and knowledge to the various parts of the world. Tun Abdullah highly praised on the outstanding level that MEDIU has reached during the past four years of its operations.
At the end of the ceremony, Honorable Rector presented token of appreciation to Tun Abdullah for his time visiting MEDIU and Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi expressed his admiration towards the University’s by stated in the guest book “May Allah s.w.t continue to shower his blessing on our Al-Madinah International University.”
