MEDIU’s International Festival of the Arabic Language

Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs recently organized on the activities for the International Festival of the Arabic Language virtually on Saturday, 18 December 2021 in conjunction of the celebration of the International Day of the Arabic Language.

The festival consisted of several activities namely the Festival Opening Ceremony, Arabic Language Competition (Secondary School Level) in Thailand, an International Dialogue Seminar and Arabic Language Competition (University Level).

The festival opening ceremony was officiated by The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) representative; His Excellency Prof. Dr. Magdi bin Haj Ibrahim and MEDIU’s Deputy CEO of Students Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doucoure Abdou Samadou. The opening speech stated on the importance of the Arabic language lies in its strong attachment to the legal rulings in Islam in the Qur’an and Hadith; thus, it is necessary for Muslims to preserve the language, learn it and teach it to people.

The Secondary School Arabic Language Competition was held virtually for Thailand’s secondary schools on 18 December 2021. Meanwhile, the International Dialogue Seminar was hosted for speakers from five countries namely Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Pakistan and Bangladesh with the topic ‘The Arabic Speakers in Non-Arab countries; Prospects and Aspirations to Serve the Nation’. The speakers shared their experiences and expertise in teaching Arabic language in their respective countries.

Lastly, four universities participated in the Arabic Language Competition (University Level) on 20 December 2021 with Team A of Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU) won the competition. Each university consist of two teams to participate, with five rounds and 10 various language questions in the field of specialization and in the general language field in each round.
